Yards and yards of yellow

(A scrap giveaway is at the end of this post!)

Okay, not really yards and yards of yellow, but scrap after scrap! The RSC color for April--a month that has flown by-- has been yellow, a color I love.  Yellow is so happy! I used up a bunch of my yellow scraps this month in three different projects.  Yellow is notoriously difficult to photograph, but trust me when I tell you that all of these yellows are very festive, even if they appear flat in the pictures. The first scrap project is the stars for the galaxy quilt:

Gosh, nature makes some vivid yellow, doesn't it? I had this forsythia bush that was still blooming, so I had to make use of those yellow flowers, didn't I?  If you recall, these stars are to use up various dark blue half yards, since I rarely use dark blues.  I love these stars and I think they're going to make a great quilt.

I also made the two yellow patchwork scrap stars this month:

I have a friend who has claimed this quilt, and so the bright turquoise and pink will be perfect for her.  I've made do with a cute background for this picture to make up for the fabrics looking so flat.

The last project I used my scraps on were the 9-patches with white centers:

There is some terrific variety in those 9-patches. I got 10 of the yellows this month, plus two gold ones:

Those were a surprise.  One of the yellow 9-patches was so surprised that it escaped and had to be hunted down and retrieved:

Thank goodness it wasn't very windy the day I took these, or we'd be down one 9-patch!

So now I'm all caught up on my scrap projects, and it's time to give away my remaining yellow scraps, like I am every RSC month this year.  Here is this month's haul:

It turns out that I used a lot of yellow scraps this month!  There are some nice yellow pieces here, but fewer than previous months. To fill out the package, I am including a half yard of a tan Grunge fabric by Moda, which I bought as a possibility for my St. James Church project, but didn't use.  (I hope you can make it out in the picture.  It kind of blends into the table.) This is your gain!  The package also includes a handful of both 1-1/2 and 2-inch squares, including the leftover yellow 2-inchers.

This giveaway is now closed!  Thanks to all!

I will send this package absolutely free to one lucky person (in the US or Canada--sorry! Postage to Europe is just too much!) who will swear to use these scraps in some project.  To enter, just leave a comment here on this post! That's all! I will use the random number generator on Monday, April 30th, sometime in the late afternoon.  (Please make sure that I have a way to contact you if you are no-reply.)

Everyone have a lovely weekend. Here is one final look at the blooming forsythia, which is being pulled out sometime in the next couple of weeks for a major landscaping project.  The project involves at least 5 truckloads of dirt. I'm dreading it, seriously!

Sharing at soscrappy for RSC18.

I agree that yellow is a happy colour. Your blocks are great. Funny, but it is just in the last year or so that I have started wanting to use it in my quilts. Love the forsythia. Ours has finished blooming for the year. I hope you have a home for it in your landscaping project. Good luck.

I love those blue and yellow blocks! They don't look flat at all. Lots of fun yellows in those blocks. (Please exclude me from the drawing for the yellow scraps, mine pile is still pretty large). Happy stitching this weekend.

I would love to "win" your yellow scraps. I'm in a Charity Quilt group and would use it for a donated quilt.

Yellow is a colour I have used very little of in the past, but it has been sneaking it's way into projects.

Yellow is one of my favorite colors! I love combining it with blue and green!
All of your blocks are great. I'm doing a star BOM and trying to keep it dark blue and yellow--like yours!
Enjoy the weekend!

I think the colors in your blocks all look vibrant and lovely! I’m working on a few different scrap challenges this year, so I’m sure these yellow scraps and random crumbs will find homes in some fun new projects!

On the gray, dreary day here in Ohio it is nice to see your burst of happy yellow.

Oooh - I love yellow and I love scraps -- I see a win-win situation here if I happen to be the lucky recipient! Your dark blue blocks are going to turn into a gorgeous quilt. I really like the deep rich background color.

Spring is so wonderful that it gives us such beautiful backdrops to work with - your forsythia is amazing! The blocks are all so pretty, too, but I understand about photography. Purple seems to be my nemesis, but nothing ever compares to the real thing.

I would love to use up your scraps on my spiderweb quilt I'm making. The yellow and tan would look great in it.

I swear on a stack of scraps that those lovely and lively yellow scraps would make a happy splash of colour in my dwindling yellow stash. That grunge is such a great grounding fabric as well. I LOVE YELLOW. I must say that not much can compete with the yellow of a forsythia. Beautiful.

I would love to win the yellow scraps. It's a color I don't have a lot of. Thank you!

So inspiring. Yellow is one color I lack.

Oh, enjoy that forsythia while you can. (We are still waiting for it to bloom here.) That first photo—be still my heart. I’m having a blast following your RSC projects this year. No need for scraps here, although that grunge is tempting. Are you sure you don’t need it for a future chapel project?

Your galaxy stars look wonderful with that forsythia! Such pretty color! I'm very fond of those nine patches with the white centers, too. Thanks for the scrappy giveaway, Mari!

Oh my gosh - your yellows are just perfect! love the star blocks, y ellow really makes blue and pink pop!

As I've worked on my yellow RSC blocks (down to using bits for crumb blocks), I've noticed that I'm lacking variety, so an infusion would be helpful. Our forsythia is just coming in to bloom, but my bushes have an odd appearance due to the deer pruning they endure.

I love working with yellow and greys with a bit of taupe thrown in. Adding a pop of color always works well too. This is definitely the season to be working with yellows and your scraps would be quite welcome so I can add some blocks to my work in progress.

Wonderful blocks!

I love yellow but seldom have scraps in that color. I want to make crumb blocks that are then cut into strip sets. The grey will be perfect for the outsides.

I love forsythia and miss it so much. When I lived in upstate NY, I had a bush in my yard and when it bloomed I knew I had survived another winter. I would love those yellows!

All your yellow blocks are lovely! Lots of rays of sunshine this month :) I'm going to throw my hat in the ring this month for your scrap giveaway. I just can't resist those bright beauties!

the thumbnail photo looks like your blocks are set in a yellow print, the forsythia is gorgeous!

Yellow is most definitely a happy color. It adds a lovely spark to most palettes. I'd love to have your scraps to add into my collection. Thanks for the chance.

I’d love a shot at your yellows! Your forsythia is brilliant! Too bad it has to go I have one as well, which, however, for some reason hasn't been very beautiful the past couple of years. I wish I knew what it needs.

All so pretty. Yellow is a happy color, isn't it? Check my blog on the 30th for a finish that you will like also. Oh, a scrap giveaway. I'd love to win. 'Did not see that part until after my first comment is why I deleted that comment.

Love the patchwork bright stars blocks, beautiful colours which go so well together. I love yellow but find it a difficult colour to use although the very first quilt I finished was a blue and yellow log cabin quillow, my dogs chewed it up yesterday :-( I'm in the UK so I'm not eligible for the draw, I quite understand though postage is a terrible price.

I've challenged myself to make quilting projects using the full rainbow of colors (orange will be incredibly difficult because I have next to nothing of it!). I've done red and green so far, with a small pink in the works. I could certainly use these for something yellow!

Good luck to all!! This is a SWEET package, but I won an earlier one (and already used some of the fabric bits.)

I hereby solemnly swear that if I win these scraps, I will use them in a project.

I would love to win your yellow scraps. I’m working on finishing a purple and yellow Jacobs Ladder quilt I started about 15 years ago. I just found it and could use more variety in order to finish it.

Thanks for sharing your forsythia pictures. Their yellow blooms are one of my favorite things about spring, but here in my area the cold weather hit at the wrong time and they were not nearly as pretty this year.

Beautiful blocks and wonderful forysthias. I have never seen this before

You snooze, you lose. Bummer because I have almost no yellow scraps.
This month didn't happen for me. I didn't do my yellow squared away blocks nor did I quilt my project for H2H over at Sarah's. Yikes. Now I feel behind. So much so that your forsythia picture reminds me that mine is done blooming and all leafed out. I usually cut huge amounts of the blossoms and bring them inside for vases around the house. Did I cut one? Nope, not even one. What happened to April???????
